Having Trouble Sleeping? Take A Bath
Posted on
No one likes to spend the entire night tossing and turning or zoning out in front of the television. Sleep disorders can be tricky, and their severity is almost always directly related to stress. One of the best solutions? Taking a bath.
According to health.com, your temperature naturally dips at night, starting about two hours before you go to sleep and reaching its coldest at about 5 a.m.
Taking a hot bath for 30 minutes allows your body to heat up, making that cool down period happen more quickly, and thus lulling you to sleep.
In order to have the best bath possible, aromatherapy experts suggest combining this technique with calming scents in order to soothe and relax the mind and the body. Lavender, Lilac, Jasmine, and Rose scents are among those reported most effective in soothing stress.
Lavender in particular has been shown to increase the duration and quality of your sleep cycles. Bodyecology.com suggests using the scent before bed and using the scent a couple hours before bed. Simply use it in your night time routine, or use a scented candle to relax your mind and body as you prepare yourself for sleep.
